The Little Witch

by Otfried Preußler

Young Theatre [6+]
Alter Saal
adapted for the stage by John von Düffel

It’s Walpurgis Night! The night of the year that unites all witches at the Blocksberg for a big party. Except for the little witch. She’s too young and is not allowed to come – not that that will stop her of course! Unfortunately, she is spotted by the weather witch Rumpumpel. The little witch is lucky though: The chief witch allows her to join the big witches in a year’s time if she has become a good witch by then. So the little witch throws herself into this new task. Helped by her raven Abraxas, she sets about practising spells every day, trying to do as much good as possible. But is she going about it the way the chief witch expects her to?

In this timeless story Otfried Preußler shows us very plainly how different conceptions of »being good« can be.

As part of theatre+, selected performances take place with simultaneous interpretation into German Sign Language (DGS).

Trailer by Siegersbuschfilm

Eine »muntere und unterhaltsame« Inszenierung von Yvonne Kespohl sah Dr. Dietrich Stern für das Darmstädter Echo (5. November 2025).
