Festive Christmas music from the Baroque: The festival Winter in Schwetzingen will offer you the opportunity to experience the artful Missa Nativitatis Domini in D major by Dresden’s Baroque master Jan Dismas Zelenka. The Bohemian composer was a contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Händel and very much in demand. The focus of his oeuvre is on church music. 20 masses, oratories, cantatas, hymns, psalms and other religious works are of his creation.

Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas cantata »Gloria in excelsis Deo« was written for Christmas Day. It is one of the few Latin works Bach composed.
