Hamlet – Queen of Sass
A production of the QUEERclub
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Or is something rotten in Zwinger 1? On the presumably 424th anniversary of the premiere of William Shakespeare's play »Hamlet«, the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg's QUEERclub is devoting itself to this classic - with mixed feelings. What motivates so many theatres to still perform »Hamlet« today? What interests us as queer, young people in this play? And why don't we actually know what Ophelia's favourite song was? Based on Shakespeare's work, the QUEERclub has spent a year analysing the play's content as well as topics such as revenge, self-doubt, love and, of course, the patriarchy that hovers over everyone. And unfortunately, this is as relevant as it was 424 years ago.
The performance is held in German.
