Great Baroque ensemble works by composers as well-known as they are popular are at the centre of this year's Christmas concert by the Philharmonisches Barock Orchester Heidelberg, framed as usual by a charming presentation by the participating musicians. The programme will include Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 as well as concerti grossi, solo concertos and ensemble pieces. There will be a reunion - at least for regular visitors to Winter in Schwetzingen - with excerpts from the operas »Mitridate« by Nicola Porpora and »La verità in cimento« by Antonio Vivaldi, which were performed in Schwetzingen a few years ago.
