A Place in our Memory
Inclusive theatre project on memorial culture in Heidelberg
We want to honor, but not in silence. We want to remember, but not alone. We want to talk about the past, loudly and with many voices. We are making space in our memory.
In the crimes committed by the Nazi regime against people with disabilities and illnesses, hundreds of thousands of people were forcibly sterilized and murdered from 1934 onwards. Among them were people from Heidelberg and the surrounding area. Today, they are immortalized in files, they are a diagnosis and sometimes a name on a memorial plaque. But who were these people? What might have moved them?
The inclusive ensemble follows the tracks of Heidelberg citizens and gives their biographies a tangible space in the city's history.
