The Castle Festival is turning 100. Directed by Holger Schultze and featuring ensemble members from all departments, we’re celebrating by taking a trip through time at Heidelberg Castle and bringing new performance spaces to life!

The castle guides share anecdotes from 100 years of the Heidelberg Castle Festival, complemented by artistic performances in musical theater, drama, and dance. You will hear »The Student Prince« alongside instrumental pieces by Ernst Krenek.

You’ll also enjoy excerpts from »A Midsummer Night’s Dream«, the festival’s opening production in 1926 and a permanent favorite and box-office hit ever since, as well as revue songs and politically charged letters from the 1930s.

The theatre tour ends after approximately 50 minutes at the exhibition in the Ottheinrichsbau, where you will have the opportunity to delve even deeper into the history.

Please arrive in good time at the signposted meeting point in the entrance area of the Schlosshof. Unfortunately, due to the architectural layout of Heidelberg Castle, the theatre tour is not wheelchair accessible and involves climbing stairs.
