Pastorale

Special Concert to mark the opening / Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Sinfonia concertante for violin, viola and orchestra in E flat Major KV 364 / Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 in F Major op. 68 »Pastoral Symphony«

Concert
Wolfgang Marguerre Saal, Konzerthaus Stadthalle Heidelberg
Direction

A glittering evening at the Stadthalle: the special concert »Pastorale« bridges the gap between two important works of Viennese classical music. The concert opens with Mozart's Sinfonia concertante in E flat major, K. 364 – a masterpiece that unfolds its lyrical sonority in every bar. Our principal players of the Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg, concertmaster Valya Dervenska and solo violist Jonathan Kliegel, bring the subtle dialogue between violin and viola to life in all its elegance.

In his Sixth Symphony, known as the »Pastoral Symphony«, Beethoven composes five movements full of atmosphere, far removed from mere tone painting. No imitation bird calls, no artificial babbling brooks – instead, moods, images and sensations of country life.

Mino Marani conducts the Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg.
