Crash Course on Anti-Asian Racism in Connection with the play »Asiawochen« with Diane J. Pitzer
Theaterplatz
People perceived as Asian are repeatedly targeted by racist stereotypes, exclusion, and violence in Germany and Europe. So-called anti-Asian racism often manifests itself subtly: in exoticization, stereotypes (»hardworking«, »conformist«, »quiet«), or in the constant questioning of one’s origins (»Where are you really from?«).
Taking the play »Asiawochen« as our starting point, this workshop explores the historical and current dimensions of anti-Asian racism. Using examples from the media, everyday life, and institutions, we ask: What images shape our thinking? How does anti-Asian racism manifest in everyday life? What concrete forms can solidarity take?
Led by Diane J. Pitzer of the Meltingpot Collective, the workshop offers a space for input, reflection, and exchange. It is open to anyone interested in addressing (anti-Asian) racism—whether out of personal, political, or professional interest.
‼The workshop is free! No registration required‼
