Song of Songs
Song of Song settings by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel, Henry Purcell, Claudio Monteverdi and Georg Philipp Telemann for countertenor and soprano
Rokokotheater Schwetzingen
With its tender, sometimes erotic verses of love, the Song of Solomon inspired the world of art in many ways. In music as well as in painting and Baroque poetry, there are fascinating testimonies throughout Europe to the exploration of one of the oldest cultural treasures of Western writings.
The beguiling voices of countertenor Benno Schachtner and soprano Catalina Bertucci promise a concert experience full of sensuality, passion and joie de vivre. With his likeable naturalness, the Bach Prize-winning countertenor is one of the leading singers in his field worldwide. Together with the Chilean-Italian soprano, duets, madrigals and arias will be performed, complemented by the recitation of European love poetry.
