»The Man Outside« is one of the most important German dramas of the postwar period. Wolfgang Borchert, who died aged 26, wrote it in just eight days in 1946. How can a person find their way back to civilian life after serving in war for three years? How does a society deal with questions of moral and accountability in light of countless crimes and atrocities?
