On the Edge of the Bathtub. Contemporary Czech Drama

Heidelberger Stückemarkt

The Czech Republic is the focus country at the next Heidelberger Stückemarkt. Which plays are being performed there? The newly published anthology »Am Wannenrand« (»On the Edge of the Baththub«) features nine contemporary Czech plays. Editor and translator Barbora Schnelle will present the volume alongside publisher Matthias Naumann at the Frankfurt Book Fair. At the same time, Jürgen Popig from the Stückemarkt’s artistic direction team will provide an insight into the programme for the upcoming festival.

Three authors featured in the anthology will be coming to Frankfurt to present their works. Actors from Theater & Orchester Heidelberg will read excerpts from the plays »Trollmama« by Hana D. Lehečková, which explores present-day internet culture, »Ausgewohnt« by Tomáš Ráliš on the current housing crisis, and »Spottschau« by Tomáš Dianiška about the trans man and sportsman Zdeněk Koubek, who set many world records as a female athlete during the interwar period.
