Ruth Messing

Ruth Messing studied theatre, film and media studies in Vienna. From 2009 she worked as an assistant director, first at the Badische Landesbühne and since 2011 at Schauspiel Hannover. She assisted Milan Peschel, Christopher Rüping, Hasko Weber, Lars Ole Walburg, Thom Luz and Mina Salehpour, among others. Her own directorial works since 2005 have included »Sisters« by Theo Fransz, » All of us together forever« by Guus Kuijer and » Dear ones, far too far away « by Conny Frühauf, with which she was invited to the Theatre Marathon in Sombor in Serbia in 2010. In 2011 she received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Society for the Bayreuther Festspiele. With » Schiller's Robbers, an evening for five players and a noisemaker« at Schauspiel Hannover, she was invited to the 4th North German Youth Theatre Meeting Hart am Wind in Bremen in 2014 and to the 18. Schillertheatertagen ans Nationaltheater Mannheim in 2015, and was nominated for the best production in the critics' poll of the trade journal Theater heute. Since the 2014/15 season, Ruth Messing has been working as a freelance director and has staged productions at the Landestheater Linz, the Deutsches Theater Göttingen, the Theater Münster, the Theater Aachen and the Theater Magdeburg, among others. She also works regularly in the independent scene, among others with the Stadtensemble Münster. Most recently, she produced the summer theatre Molière Mashup Spektakel » The Molière of Völksen « at the Hermannshof. At the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, Ruth Messing is staging »The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum« by Heinrich Böll for the first time in 2022.
