Madeleine Boyd

Madeleine Boyd studied Theatre Design at Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design in London. Her recent work includes the set for »Macbeth« at the Grange Festival in Winchester, the acclaimed world premiere of »Raising Icarus« in Birmingham and her set design for »La Traviata«  at Komische Oper Berlin. Other works include the set for »Carmen«  (Nikikai Opera Foundation, Tokyo), the opera »Wuthering Heights« (Opéra National de Lorraine, Nancy) and the set for the production of Bernstein's »A Quiet Place« (Opera Zuid, Maastricht), which was awarded the Arets Reumert Prize for best opera production in 2016. She also designed the set of Benjamin Britten's »Albert Herring« at the renowned Festival Maggio Musicale in Florence and the trilogy of Donizetti's three queen dramas (»Anna Bolena«, »Maria Stuarda« and »Roberto Devereux«) at the Welsh National Opera, parts of which were repeated at the Teatro Real in Madrid. Other works included Schnitzler's »Liebelei« at Voralberg Landestheater as part of the festival Bregenzer Festspiele and Stravinsky's »L’Histoire du Soldat.» She first appeared as a stage designer at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg as part of Winter in Schwetzingen with the production »Mitridate« in the 2017/18 season (Director: Jacopo Spirei).
