Mirjam Schaal was born in Stuttgart in 1992 and lives in Berlin. She studied stage design and stage space at the Universität der Künste Berlin under Hartmut Meyer and Janina Audick. While still a student, she founded the theatre collective onlygameintown together with Louise Pons, for which they received a Forecast Platform grant in 2020 and staged several video performances with Markus Öhrn in Sweden in 2021. She also has a long-standing collaboration with the director Theresa Thomasberger. Mirjam Schaal developed stage and costume designs for the first performance of Svenja Viola Bungarten's text »Maria Magda« at the Theater Münster, which won the Autor*innenpreis of the Heidelberger Stückemarkt, Kathy Acker's »Pussy King of the Pirates« at the Berliner Arbeiter*innen Theater and Klaus Theweleit's »Men's Fantasies« at the Volksbühne Berlin.
