Oskar Mayböck

The musician and sound artist Oskar Johann Mayböck was born in Austria in 1991. He studied philosophy at the Universität Wien, and completed the master's programme Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the Universität der Künste Berlin. From 2014 he undertook live performances as Oskar May and Ånsgar and is a founding member of the collective Philosophy Unbound, which provides an open stage for non-academic, performative philosophy. In addition to regularly organised events in Vienna and Berlin, in March 2018 he was able to organise an event in New Delhi in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has created soundtracks and sound concepts for short films, performances, audio/video installations and for the theatre. Among others, several times for productions at the bat of the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch, as well as at the Theater Münster. In 2016 he released his debut album »The Lane« on Gully Havoc (Berlin) as Oskar May. In 2021 his album »Donkey Liturgy« was released by Ashida Park (Vienna) as Ånsgar.
