Oksana Savchenko

Oksana Savchenko is a citizen of Ukraine, born and raised in Kyiv. She works as a screenwriter, playwright, journalist and is Co-founder of the Kiev Playwrights Theater. In 2011 she participated in the London Royal Court theater program for Ukrainian playwrights. The reading of her play »I’m No Longer Interested in How You’re Doing« was adapted as the performance »Take, Love, Run«. In 2012 she participated in the »Ukraine Goodbye« experimental theater laboratory project, her screenplay »Crow« was used for a short film. She won the international playwriting competition Badenweiler in 2014. As a playwright she participated in the international Telpa Daugavpils festival in Lativa in 2014, the international theater festival Week of the Relevant Play in Kyiv and at the Heidelberger Stückemarkt theater festival in 2017.

As a screenwriter she has worked with different television channels and completed over 20 projects: »Chasova Varta«, the short film »Batik`s Room« in 2019 and the feature film »And I No Longer Wonder How You Are« in 2021. Fort the past 20 years she worked as a journalist in Ukrainian media companies. Oksana Savchenko recieved several awards in text competitions and the first price in the PRESSZVANIE competition in the Theater nomination.

Her most recent projects in 2022 are: »The Night Hides the Morning« as part of the Remmidemmi festival at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, »About the War» a project of the Theater of Dramatists, »NO CHERRY ORCHARD« an audovisual installation. The work on a video film about Oksana Savchenko has begun and is called »I Want to Go Home«. In the 2023/24 season she is a writer in residence at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.
