Marie-Therese Futterknecht, born in Vienna, studied acting at Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz. She was then an ensemble member at Schauspiel Essen and Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, where she worked with directors such as Jens Daniel Herzog, Volker Lösch and Jürgen Kruse. Important roles during this time were Princess Eboli in »Don Carlos« and Rosaura in »Das Leben ein Traum«. Guest engagements followed at Münchner Kammerspiele, Theater in der Josefstadt Vienna, Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, Theater Freiburg and Volkstheater Vienna, among others. She has performed under the direction of Stephan Rottkamp, Bernadette Sonnenbichler and Dominique Schnizer. In recent years she has played the leading role in »Der Weibsteufel«, Ranjewskaja in »Der Kirschgarten«, Elisabeth and, a few years later, Maria in »Maria Stuart«. For her portrayal of Maria in the production directed by Holk Freytag, she received the Great Hersfeld Prize in 2014. She can currently be seen in the Bavarian series»"Hindafing« and in »Soko Kitzbühel«. Marie-Therese Futterknecht has already made a guest appearance in Heidelberg in »B for Baby«.
