Mino Marani, born in Italy in 1985, studied piano, chamber music, composition, conducting, semiotics and communication science in Bologna and Milan. He has been living in Germany since 2011 and has worked at theatres in Mainz, Osnabrück, Pforzheim, Koblenz and Braunschweig. His repertoire includes major operas by Wagner (»Das Rheingold«, »Götterdämmerung«, »Der fliegende Holländer«), Strauss (»Salome«), Bartók (»Herzog Blaubarts Burg«), Verdi (»Il trovatore«, »Nabucco«, »Luisa Miller«, »Rigoletto«, »Macbeth«) and Mozart ((»Don Giovanni«, »Così fan tutte«, »Le nozze di Figaro«, »Die Zauberflöte«, »Die Entführung aus dem Serail«). He also places a special emphasis on modern and contemporary works – including »Dead Man Walking«, »The Golden Dragon« and »Das große Heft« – as well as rediscoveries such as Dante by Benjamin Godard. Since September 2024, Mino Marani has been General Music Director of the City of Heidelberg and conductor of the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra. In the 2025/26 season, he will conduct new productions of Puccini's »Manon Lescaut« and Strauss' »Der Rosenkavalier«, as well as philharmonic concerts featuring works by Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Strauss and Hans Zender. In addition, he is concluding the successful BEEEEEEEEEthoven! cycle with the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra, in which all of Beethoven's symphonies are being performed. In March 2025, together with pianist Anna Khomichko and the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra, he released the critically acclaimed CD »Beginnings« featuring early piano concertos by Beethoven, Mozart and Clementi. In the current season, Mino Marani can also be heard as a guest conductor with the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Westphalia and the Münster Symphony Orchestra.
