Corinna Niemeyer

Corinna Niemeyer has been Directrice Artistique and Chief Conductor of the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg since September 2020. She was previously assistant conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for two years. Her enthusiasm for profound interpretation and innovative communication of music is reflected in the range of her activities as a guest conductor, which includes ensembles for historical performance practice, world premieres, interdisciplinary projects, opera and symphonic projects. One of the highlights of the 2022/23 season was her debut at the Royal Opera House London with Britten's »Rape of Lucretia«. In addition to regular engagements with the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg, she performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Ensemble Modern, the Hallé, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the Saarland State Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife in the 2022/23 season. As a guest conductor, she has accepted invitations from the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Komische Oper Berlin and others. Also a distinguished opera conductor (Oper Köln, Opéra National du Rhin, Theater Augsburg, Theater St. Gallen), she made her debut in the 2021/22 season at the Opéra de Metz with Rossini's "Le Comte Ory" and at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg. Corinna Niemeyer has won several international conducting competitions (Tokyo International Conducting Competition 2015, Talent Chef d'orchestre 2014 Paris). She studied orchestral conducting, school music and violoncello at the Zurich University of the Arts and at the music academies in Karlsruhe, Munich and Shanghai.
