Martijn Dendievel

The Flemish conductor Martijn Dendievel is Associate Conductor of the Flanders Symphony Orchestra and winner of the 2021 German Conducting Award. In the same year, he also won the first Conducting Academy of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and was a finalist in the LSO Donatella Flick Competition. In June 2022, he won the first edition of the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam. From 2016 to 2020, he was Principal Guest Conductor of the Halle Academic Orchestra and is sponsored as a »Maestro of Tomorrow« by the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council. Martijn Dendievel is a regular guest conductor with orchestras such as the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale Bologna and the South Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. In the current season he makes his debut with the Tonkünstler Orchestra Vienna, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana and the Sinfonia Varsovia. He also returns to the Belgian National Orchestra and the Hofer Symphoniker. In recent years, he has also conducted renowned orchestras such as the Concertgebouw Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Sinfonieorchester Cologne, the Gürzenich Orchester Cologne, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana. He grew up in a family of musicians. Before his fifteenth birthday, he was accepted at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he graduated four years later with a bachelor's degree in composition with honours. In July 2022, Martijn Dendievel completed his master's degree in orchestral conducting.
