Shahar Lavi

Mezzo-soprano Shachar Lavi graduated with honors from the Buchmann-Mehta Academy of Music in Tel Aviv. She was a member of the opera studio Meitar of the Israeli Opera. In recent seasons, Shachar Lavi has been a regular guest at the Salzburg Landestheater, where she debuted in various roles such as Dorabella (»Cosi fan Tutte«) and Fatima (»Oberon«). In the summer of 2019, Shachar Lavi again participated in the »International Summer Opera Program« in Tel- Aviv Yafo, where she sang the role of Donna Elvira in a fully staged production of »Don Giovanni«. Her opera repertoire includes roles such as Mozart's Cherubino in »Le nozze di Figaro« and Dorabella in »Così fan tutte«, Rosina in »The Barber of Seville«, Tisbe in »La Cenerentola«, Romeo in »I Capuleti e i Montecchi«, Hansel in »Hansel and Gretel« or Varvara in »Katja Kabanova«. Her concert repertoire includes Mozart's »Requiem«, Bach's »Magnificat«, Vivaldi's »Gloria«, Rossini's »Petite Messe Solennelle«, Berlioz's »Les nuits d'été« and Mahler's 4th Symphony.  She has performed with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, the Israeli Barocade, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra and the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra under the direction of conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Daniel Oren, Dan Ettinger, Paul Nadler, Daniel Cohen, among others.  Shachar Lavi has been a fellow of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and the Ronen Foundation for Outstanding Israeli Artists, among others. In 2017-19 she was part of the ensemble of the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg and is currently an ensemble member at the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
