Zachary Wilson

American lyric baritone Zachary Wilson will be heard in the 2022/23 season as Belcore in »L'elisir d'amore« at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, Orpheus in »Orphée aux enfers« at Theater Dortmund, and King's Son in »Snow White« at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. After Zachary Wilson completed his vocal studies at the University of Northern Colorado, his path led him to Germany, where he was a founding member of the international concert and vocal ensemble »Opera et Ceterea«. In 2012, he was engaged by the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg. There Zachary Wilson has appeared in many roles, including Guglielmo in Mozart's »Cosi fan tutte«, Peter Besenbinder in Humperdinck's »Hansel and Gretel«, Angelotti in Puccini's »Tosca«, and Baron Duphoul in Verdi's »La Travita«, the latter under the musical direction of internationally renowned conductor Lahav Shani. In the summer of 2018, Zachary Wilson sang the role of Marcello in »La boheme« at the Gut Immling Opera Festival, followed in November 2018 by his house debut at Theater Dortmund with the title role in Fons Merkies' musical theater »Romeo and Zeliha«. In Heidelberg, Zachary Wilson discovered his passion for modern music and was part of the modern chamber opera evening »In meiner Nacht« in 2014. Here he created the main role in Christian Jost's »Death Knocks«. In the world premiere of Johannes Kalitzke's opera »Pym«, he sang the solo bass part in the challenging vocal quartet. Zachary Wilson has also been featured as a soloist in concerts with the Heidelberg Bach Choir. Zachary Wilson's role repertoire additionally includes roles such as Papageno / Sprecher in »Die Zauberflöte«, Ottokar in »Der Freischütz«, Dr. Falke in »Die Fledermaus« and Masetto in »Don Giovanni«.
