Katharina Lohr was born in 1981 Minden and received her first flute lessons there at the age of 9. Later, as a junior student, she moved to the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover to study with Lorenz Hellgardt. She completed her artistic and pedagogical diploma in Karlsruhe with Prof Renate Greiss-Armin, and also studied with Barbara Gißler-Haase in Vienna and Jacques Zoon in Geneva. With the study of the transverse flute as a minor subject with Heike Nicodemus and Gertraud Wimmer, she received important impulses. Baroque chamber music on old instruments and chamber music with the Moyaux Wind Quintet are her great passions besides teaching. She has been a member of the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra since 2007.
