Anna Rakitina

Over the past two seasons, Anna Rakitina has established herself as one of the most exciting and sought-after young conductors, having made highly acclaimed appearances with renowned symphony orchestras such as Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Tonkünstler Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. Highlights of the 2023/24 season include a return to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as well as debuts with the Utah Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, Hanover State Orchestra, Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, Danish Chamber Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony and the Deutsches Symphonieorchester Berlin at the Dresden Music Festival. She has previously worked with orchestras such as the Cincinnati, Baltimore and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras as well as the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Radiophilharmonie (Hanover) and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. Born in Moscow to a Russian-Ukrainian family, she began her training as a violinist and studied conducting at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Stanislav Diachenko. In 2018, she completed additional conducting studies in Hamburg with Prof. Ulrich Windfuhr, graduating with a concert exam. In the same year, she was a finalist in »Das kritische Orchester« in Berlin. She was also a scholarship holder of the Conducting Fellowship of the Lucerne Festival Academy under the direction of Alan Gilbert and Bernard Haitink and attended masterclasses with Gennadiy Rozhdestvensky, Vladimir Jurowski and Johannes Schlaefli. In 2022 she took part in the Ammodo Conducting Masterclass at the Concertgebouw Festival Amsterdam under the direction of Fabio Luisi.
