Katrina Mäntele studied literature, art and media studies at the Universities of Konstanz and Monterrey (Mexico). She completed her Master's degree in American Literature and Cultural Studies at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and the UNAM in Mexico City. During her studies, she worked as a project assistant at the Goethe-Institut Mexico and organised various bilateral cultural projects, and her first engagements took Katrina Mäntele to the Junges Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf as assistant director and manager and to the Heidelberg Theatre and Orchestra as production manager of the Heidelberg Stückemarkt. In the last year of Matthias Lilienthal's directorship, Katrina Mäntele moved to the Münchner Kammerspiele as production manager and dramaturge, and since September 2020 has been working as a freelance project manager and dramaturge on international festivals and interdisciplinary projects in theatre, museums and urban spaces, including at the Münchner Kammerspiele, the asphalt Festival Düsseldorf and the SPIELART Festival in Munich. She works closely with artists who use their work to highlight counter-concepts to colonial and patriarchal structures. As a production manager, she strives for sustainable production methods and democratic decision-making processes, and in the 2023/24 season, Katrina Mäntele will once again take over the production management and artistic collaboration for the Heidelberg Stückemarkt.
