»How do you find an artistic approach to talking about indigenous peoples living in self-elected isolation? Can our view on these autonomous peoples be more than pure projection?« — The Curators
In 2019, news of the existence of indigenous communities in the Amazonas region living in self-selected isolation reached us. Fascinated by this type of resistance, Mapa Teatro starts to research it, follows the signs in reports from shamans, anthropologists and eye witnesses and fictionalises their stories. Is our search about permitting the isolated peoples to take over our dreams so that we can live a new form of resistance?
Mapa Teatro is a transdisciplinary artistic lab located in Bogotá and founded in 1984 by stage directors and artists Heidi, Elizabeth and Rolf Abderhalden. Mapa Teatro designs their own map within the »living arts«, a space that allows for geographical, language and artistic barriers to be overcome.
