To coincide with the current production of Benjamin Britten's opera »Death in Venice« in the music theatre programme, the Gloria cinema is showing the film adaptation of the Thomas Mann novella by Italian director Luchino Visconti as part of a matinee.
Visconti's visually powerful and atmospherically rich realisation was made in 1971 and has since become one of the classics of international literary cinema. After the screening, there will be an opportunity to talk to the acting GMD Dietger Holm and opera director Ulrike Schumann about the material and the various adaptations by Visconti and Britten.
