Language is powerful, it describes, paraphrases, language limits - and excludes. Speech theatre lives from the spoken word, it lives from language as a vehicle for stories and emotions. It lives from people who bring the stage to life with their words and those who put these words into their mouths. But German spoken theatre is no longer just German-language theatre. How can we portray and represent our society on stage? How can theatre remain an active space for discourse in which all people can participate?

Stabiler Rücken e.V., an association of Jewish, migrant, BIPoC and PoC artists, is committed to a more diverse theatre and film landscape in German-speaking countries. In a joint dialogue, we want to explore the spaces that language can open and close. We want to talk about the status quo of current theatre practice and the possibilities of representation - together with you!
