drink fight heidelberg
A theatre performance on student fraternities and sororities in Heidelberg
Amtsstübl im Verein Alt-Heidelberg
The Institut für Kontrolle und Exzess / Institute for Control and Excess, founded at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, investigated Heidelberg fraternities and sororities with »drink fight heidelberg«. The Institut spoke to members of fraternities and sororites, alumni, activists and dropouts as well as others in order to develop the performance – rumour has it they've even been to a fraternity house.
Driven by the desire to shed light onto the obscure fabric of fraternities and sororities, they create an evening about close friendship and toxic masculinity, treasured rituals and badly ageing conventions, about youth development and dangerous old boys' networks, liberal fraternity members and revisionist tendencies, about honour, fencing and drinking and about degrading violence.
A fraternal evening.
The performance is not suitable for people sensitive to light and noise. Strobe lighting will be used.
