Heidelberger Schlossfestspiele

A summer festival on the city's most beautiful stages

The ruins of Heidelberg Castle are considered the most frequently visited castle ruins in Germany. Heidelberg Castle also houses Theater und Orchester Heidelberg's most beautiful stages: Schlosshof, Dicker Turm and Englischer Bau. During the summer, these venues provide the backdrop for productions from all categories as well as gala concerts for the Heidelberger Schlossfestspiele festival.

Many of the productions are interdisciplinary: opera and musical theatre, drama and dance find common ground in different constellations. Schlosshof, in front of the Gothic library building with its unequalled atmosphere, primarily hosts musicals and operettas, productions of the great dramas of world literature as well as classic comedies.

Dicker Turm has an arena stage and a unique view of Heidelberg's old town, the Neckar valley and the Rhine plains. Come here to see an alternating programme of classic and modern comedies, and even a dance performance here and there.

The lofty heights of Englischer Bau invite the whole family to enjoy children's literature classics on stage.
There's something to enjoy for everyone!
