Davit Gabunia

Davit Gabunia, born in 1982, is an author and critic and an outstanding voice in Georgian literature. He has translated works by Shakespeare, Strindberg and Sarah Kane as well as the »Harry Potter« volumes, wrote a TV series and is considered the most important young playwright. His plays are performed at various theatres in Georgia (Royal District Theatre, Rustaveli, Freedom, Poti and Batumi State Theatres and many more), Germany, Poland, Sweden, France and Romania and have been awarded several of the country's most prestigious theatre and literature prizes. The German translation of his first novel was published by Rowohlt Berlin in 2019 under the title »Farben der Nacht«.

Davit Gabunia also teaches at Ilia State University in Tbilisi and at the Royal District Theatre Studio.
