Amira Elmadfa

The mezzo-soprano is a regular guest at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and has repeatedly sung Flora in »La Traviata« and Anna Kennedy in concert performances of »Maria Stuarda« with Diana Damrau in the title role. She also sang Schiava Smaragdi in the new production of »Francesca da Rimini« by Christof Loy and Orlofsky in »Die Fledermaus«.
At the Salzburg Festival, she also appeared in »Suor Angelica« in a Christof Loy production.
She made her debut as Clorinda in the world premiere of »Rivale« by Lucia Ronchetti at the reopening of the Berlin State Opera with overwhelming success and was subsequently nominated for the German Theater Prize DER FAUST 2018.
She has also performed regularly at the Volksoper Vienna and the Staatstheater Nürnberg. Further engagements have taken her to the Staatstheater Darmstadt and Braunschweig, to Bonn, Innsbruck, Kiel, the Staatsoperette Dresden, the Nationaltheater Weimar, the Philharmonie Luxembourg in roles such as Cherubino / »Le nozze di Figaro«, Dorabella / »Così fan tutte«, Donna Elvira and Zerlina / »Don Giovanni«, Rosina / »Il barbiere di Siviglia«, Siebel / »Faust«, Octavian / »Rosenkavalier«, Hänsel / »Hänsel und Gretel«, Niclausse and Muse / »Les Contes d'Hoffmann«, Giunone / »La Callisto«, Fuchs / »Das schlaue Füchslein«, Goffredo / »Rinaldo«, Rosette / »Manon«, Dido / »Dido and Aeneas« and many more.
Amira studied musicology and theater studies in Vienna, singing at the University of Music in Karlsruhe and attended master classes with KS Brigitte Fassbaender, KS Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and KS Julia Varady.
She won first prize at »Das Lied«, the International Song Competition in Berlin, the special song prize at the Bergheim Singing Prize and the sponsorship prize at the Freiburg University Competition, after which she gave recitals at the Lucerne Festival, the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York, the Arnold Schönberg Center and at Theater Kiel.
Concert appearances have also taken the artist to the Fränkische Musiktage, the Thüringer Bachwochen, the Händelfestspiele Karlsruhe, the Darmstadtium, concert halls in Vienna, Basel, Zurich, Spain and the Gran Canaria International Baroque Festival.
