Clemens Flick

Clemens Flick was born in Karlsruhe. The conductor, harpsichordist and pianist began his musical training as a young student in the piano class of Prof Fany Solter and Prof Miguel Proença at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe and subsequently studied orchestral conducting with Prof Hans-Dieter Baum at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and early music theory at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
Clemens Flick has conducted numerous opera productions at the Freiburg Theatre as a solo repetiteur with conducting duties, including »Mitridate«, »Lucio Silla«, »Idomeneo«, »Peer Gynt«, »Stormen« and »Il barbiere di Siviglia«. His productions of Purcell's »King Arthur« and »Il Gran Teatro del Mundo« with music by Carles Santos attracted great attention.

His collaboration with directors such as Stefan Herheim, Calixto Bieito, Ilaria Lanzino, Nicola Raab, Tom Ryser and Michiel Dijkema should be emphasised.
From 2012 to 2015, he was a visiting professor at the HHochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, where he was responsible for the coordination and direction of music theatre projects.
Since 2015, he has regularly assisted René Jacobs as musical assistant, including in productions at the Staatsoper Berlin and the Opéra National de Paris. Together with René Jacobs, he produced an edition of the Prague version of Mozart's »Finta giardiniera«, which was published by Boosey & Hawkes.
As a virtuoso harpsichordist, Clemens Flick is also a welcome guest with Ensemble Resonanz, La Folia Barockorchester, Lautten Compagney, B'Rock Orchestra and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
