Franziska Bornkamm

Franziska Bornkamm, born 1981 in Freiburg, studied stage design at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien. She completed a year abroad at the theatre in Salvador da Bahia/Brazil and graduated with distinction in 2007. In the course of a joint study project with angewandte Theaterwissenschaft in Gießen, she met the director Jan Philipp Gloger, with whom she has had an intensive collaboration ever since. They have realised numerous plays together, including at Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel, the Frankfurt and Zürich Operas, Staatstheater Mainz, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Staatstheater Nürnberg and Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. As a scholarship holder at the 2010 Berlin Theatertreffen, Franziska Bornkamm met the director Nicole Oder. Their collaboration is characterised by an intensive artistic examination of society and reality. The mostly docufictional plays were produced at Heimathafen Neukölln Berlin, Volkstheater Munich and  Berliner Ensemble. At Staatstheater Nürnberg, she has also helped shape the face of the theatre since 2018/19. Together with Eva Seiler, she conceived and realised the redesign of the 3rd floor in 2018, and with Anna Lechner she designed the art collage for the redesign of the Schauspielhaus façade in 2021. Franziska Bornkamm lives with her family in Vienna. At Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, she is designing the stage for Philipp Löhle's world premiere »Heidelberg 72 ff.« at Remmidemmi Festival in 2022.
