Dietmar Nieder was born in Berlin in 1960, completed private acting training there and took on his first roles at an off-theatre in Berlin. This was followed by permanent engagements at theatres in Braunschweig, Dortmund, Freiburg, Potsdam, Stuttgart and Augsburg. In addition to his theatre work, he worked as an acting teacher and appeared in various television productions. Important roles have included Hippolytus in »Phädra«, Goethe's »Torquato Tasso«, Marinelli in Lessing's »Emilia Galotti« and Jupiter in Kleist's »Amphitryon«. During Holger Schultze's directorship in Osnabrück, he appeared as Robert in »Betrogen« by Harold Pinter and as Michel Houllier in »Der Gott des Gemetzels« by Yasmina Reza. Since the 2011/12 season, he has been a regular guest at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg. Other guest engagements have taken him to Oberhausen, the Staatstheater Kassel, Paderborn and Bielefeld and he has staged productions including »Endstation Sehnsucht« (Williams) and »Drei Schwestern« (Chekhov) at the Landestheater in Memmingen. In Heidelberg, he has appeared as Henry Higgins in »My Fair Lady« and as the captain in Büchner's »Woyzeck«, among many other roles.
