Dietmar Nieder

Dietmar Nieder was born in 1960 in Berlin, completed private acting training there and took on his first roles at the then off-theatre Junges Theater Berlin. He was subsequently engaged at Staatstheater Braunschweig, Theater Dortmund, Theater Freiburg, Hans-Otto-Theater Potsdam, Staatstheater Stuttgart and Theater Augsburg. In addition to his theatre work, he was an acting teacher and acted in various television productions. Important roles included Hippolytus in »Phaedra«, Torquato Tasso in Goethe's play of the same name, Marinelli in »Emilia Galotti« and Jupiter in Heinrich von Kleist's »Amphitryon«. In recent years, under the directorship of Holger Schultze, he has appeared in Osnabrück as Robert in »Betrogen« by Harold Pinter, Ross in »Die letzte Station« by Erich Maria Remarque, Michel Houllier in »Der Gott des Gemetzels« by Yasmina Reza and Antonio in Shakespeare's »The Merchant of Venice«. He also staged »The Last Tape« by Samuel Beckett there. Dietmar Nieder has been a regular guest at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg since the 2011/12 season.
