Johann Aparicio Bohórquez

Johann Aparicio Bohórquez has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orchestre de Chambre de la nouvelle Europe, the Budapest Strings, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, the Sinfonietta Mainz, the Jena Philharmonic and the Junge Sinfonie Berlin. In addition to his solo activities, he plays chamber music with partners such as Elisabeth Leonskaja, Hariolf Schlichtig, Lena Neudauer, Daniel Gaede and Sontraud Speidel. He has been invited to international festivals such as the Tanglewood Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Podium Festival Esslingen, the Mozartiade Augsburg, the Max Reger Days in Weiden and the Cape Classic in South Africa. He has played in Europe and Asia with his trio ‘Licto’. He currently performs with his piano trio ‘Eliade’ alongside George Tudorache and Claudia Bara. He began his studies in 2003 at the Cologne University of Music with Professor Hans Christian Schweiker. In addition to numerous awards and scholarships, for example from Yehudi Menuhin, Live Music Now and Villa Musica, he was able to further his chamber music studies at the UDK in Berlin with the Artemis Quartet from 2009. He completed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt. Masterclasses with professors such as Wolfgang Boettcher, David Cohen and Claudio Bohórquez complemented his artistic career. He has worked with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel and Leonard Slatkin. Johann Aparicio Bohórquez has been principal cellist of the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra since 2012. In 2023, he recorded the CD »Chaos«, which won the silver medal at the Global Music Awards 2023, together with the composer and pianist Mónica Cárdenas.
