Barbara Behrendt

Barbara Behrendt, born in Essen in 1980, completed her acting training at Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. While still a student, she performed in several productions at Staatstheater Stuttgart and hosted a radio program for children for SWR. Her first permanent engagement took her to Theater Baden-Baden. This was followed by guest engagements at Theater Basel under the direction of Marie Bues and Christina Paulhofer. From 2008 to 2011 Barbara Behrendt was engaged at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. Since 2011 she has been living in Berlin with her family and has made repeated guest appearances at Theater Rampe in Stuttgart, including co-productions with Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and Theater unterm Dach Berlin. In addition to her work at the theatre, Barbara Behrendt is regularly employed as a voice-over artist for SWR, Deutschlandfunk and Arte, among others. She is also a director at various Berlin schools, where she works with young people. At Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, Barbara Behrendt will be performing in the world premiere of »Abschuss« by Özlem Özgül Dündar as part of the Remmidemmi festival in 2022.
