After training as an actress at Bayerischen Theaterakademie August Everding, Susanne Berckhemer was engaged at the Theater Heidelberg. There she appeared as Juliet, Ophelia, Stella and many other major roles – directed by Ido Ricklin, Davud Bouchehri, Mona Kraushaar and Robin Telfer, among others. She has also appeared in TV series such as »Verliebt in Berlin«, »Wege zum Glück« and »Tiere bis unters Dach« and has been realising her own projects with Spreeagenten Berlin since 2007.
For »Zalina – Ein Dorf erzählt«, Susanne Berckhemer was honoured with the Exzellenzpreis for the most innovative project of the European Capital of Culture Sibiu 2007. From 2012 to 2019, she was a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater Regensburg, where she appeared as Medea and worked with Konstanze Kreusch, Robert Teufel, Melanie Huber, Robin Telfer, Charlotte Koppenhöfer and many more. In 2022, she wrote and directed the play »Wie man in den Himmel kommt« for the Bürgertheater at Theater Regensburg.
For several years, she has been organising guest management at the Internationales Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg, is currently appearing in the production »Mutter Vater Land« at the Theaterhaus G7 in Mannheim, and heads the »Die Klimameile« project.
She is currently particularly committed to theatre for young people. Susanne Berckhemer has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Junges Theater since the 2024/25 season.
