Karin Fritz studied stage and costume design at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. There she graduated with distinction and started her career as a stage and costume designer at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe. From 1995 to 1999 she was a member of John Dew's team at the Dortmund Theatre, where she was nominated »Stage Designer of the Year«.
Since 1999 she has worked successfully as a freelance stage and costume designer at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Theater an der Wien, the Theater in der Josefstadt Vienna, the State Theatres in Karlsruhe, Schwerin, Meiningen, Mainz, Kassel, the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich, the Regensburg Theatre, Münster, St. Gallen and the Landestheater Innsbruck.
The stage concepts developed by Karin Fritz are based on kinetic space. Transformations are developed with dramaturgical, content-related motivation and from the aspects of the respective material in an aesthetically as well as sensually supportive way.
