This summer, the Broadway hit surrounding Spain’s famous wannabe knight will appear on stage at Heidelberg Castle! The play wrote theatre history in 1965 winning five Tony awards.
Cervantes invented his tragic hero while imprisoned in Spain by the Spanish Inquisition. The writer and his character, the knight Don Quixote, blend together, while his fellow prisoners turn into his squire Sancho Panza, his beloved Dulcinea and other characters of his tale. This moving tale was created behind prison walls through the power of imagination alone and represents a powerful declaration of love to the theatre!
