Born in Italy in 1994, Miriam Unterthiner now lives in Vienna and writes dramas and prose. She studied Philosophy, German Studies and German Philology as well as Language Arts at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Before starting to write, she played handball in Italy, among others for SSV Brixen. Even at six years old, she wanted to become a »poet«, while others wanted to hear her say »judge«. As a consequence, she switched first to »author«, and then to »something with cars« because of a classmate. In the end, she became a contemporary dramatist.

Aside from her writing, Miriam Unterthiner is active in promoting literature, was on the board of the Südtiroler Autorinnen- und Autorenvereinigung, founded the programme for young artists »Sprachlabor/Laboratorio linguistico/ Lëuratuere de rujeneda« dedicated to experimental language literature in South Tyrol.
