Knut Jensen

Knut Jensen studied flute at Musikakademie Basel. Alongside his training, he worked for several years as a sound technician for various theatres before becoming self-employed as a composer, sound designer, musician and producer in 1990 and subsequently founding his company Knut Jensen Sound Design. Work as a theatre musician and composer has taken him to Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Residenztheater Munich, Deutsches Theater Berlin and Schauspiel Zürich, among others. At Stadttheater Uppsala/Sweden he composed the music for Linus Tunström's production of »Hamlet«. In addition to his own band project Knut & Silvy, he has also been touring regularly with singer Erika Stucky since 2011. As a sound designer, he has set art videos, documentaries and short feature films to music, among other things. He also held a professorship for audiovisual design at Hochschule der Künste in Bern until 2008. He has had a long collaboration with Bernhard Mikeska and his collective RAUM+ZEIT, in 2023 he will develop the sound design for the VR production »Freud träumt :: Anna O.«, a co-production of Theater und Orchester Heidelberg and RAUM+ZEIT.
