Nick Hartnagel

Nick Hartnagel was born in Stuttgart in 1987 and studied directing at Hochschule für Schauspielkunst »Ernst Busch«from 2008 to 2012. After graduating, he assisted at Schauspiel Hannover from 2012 to 2014, where his diploma production »Fabian« after Erich Kästner and the world premiere of Soeren Voima's »Die Römische Octavia« were created. In this context he also created the internet video series »Diary of a Dramaturge« together with actor Henning Hartmann. Since then Nick Hartnagel has directed at Staatstheater Hannover, Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, Theaterhaus Jena, Theater Osnabrück, Neues Theater Halle, Theater Aachen, LTT Tübingen and Landestheater Marburg. He was invited twice to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt: in 2014 with the world premiere of Johannes Schrettle's »Die Kunden werden unruhig« and in 2015 with »zu jung zu alt zu deutsch« by Dirk Laucke. At the Nationaltheater Mannheim, he staged the German premiere of »Mitwisser« by then house author Enis Maci in 2018/19. For Schauspiel Stuttgart, he realised the film project »Kein Eisberg in Sicht« with students of the HMDK Stuttgart, which was awarded the Max Reinhardt Ensemble Prize at the Federal Digital Competition of German-Speaking Acting Students 2021. He also directed »Der Untergang der Titanic« at Schauspiel Stuttgart in 2021/22 and the world premiere of »Der Triumph der Waldrebe in Europa« by Clemens J. Setz in 2022/23. His third directorial work for Theater und Orchester Heidelberg in 2023/24 is his own stage version of the novel »Herkunft« by Saša Stanišić.
