Verena Buss

Verena Buss grew up in Baden-Baden and received her acting training at Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Hamburg. In the years that followed, permanent and guest engagements took her to Cologne, Basel, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Bremen, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Freiburg, Tübingen and Zurich. Twice she was nominated as (upcoming) actress of the year by the magazine Theater heute. She has also appeared in radio plays, taught at acting academies in Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg, directed her own plays and appeared in numerous film and television roles. With her musical readings (Dante, Homer, Virgil, Seneca, Benn) she gave guest performances in Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland. From 1993 to 1998 Verena Buss was a permanent member of the ensemble at Schauspiel Stuttgart. She continues to work as a guest at Schauspiel Stuttgart and at many other theatres. At Theater und Orchester Heidelberg she has been a guest reader many times at the Heidelberger Schlossfestspiele (including »The Odyssee«  and »The Divine Comedy«), and in 2023/24 she will play the role of Kristina in »Herkunft« by Saša Stanišić.
