Hannah Frauenrath

Hannah Frauenrath was born in Düsseldorf in 1994, studied Theatre Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz from 2014 to 2019 and was a permanent assistant director at Staatstheater Mainz in 2017/18. From 2019 to 2022 she studied directing at Folkwang University of the Arts. During her studies she realised, among others, the documentary play developments »Bravo, Girl!« (2019), »Fallbeispiel: NSU« (2020) and »Die Räuber oder Make Männlichkeit Great Again« (2021). She graduated in 2022 with the play development »Eine ganz normale Hexe«. In the same year, she staged »Echtzeitkomplizen« by Julia Herrgesell at Landestheater Detmold as part of a digital premiere series, the monologue »Peepshow« by Marie Brassard at Prinz Regent Theater Bochum and developed the premiere »Ich hab dich, Babe« together with Vincent Doddema at Staatstheater Mainz. Hannah Frauenrath is part of the Creative Europe-funded project JTE, which brings together European theatre makers and aims to develop multilingual theatre projects. In the 2023/24 season, the productions »Norway.Today« by Igor Bauersima at Schauspiel Wuppertal, the play development »Tatort 110« at Landestheater Detmold and a multilingual play development at Staatstheater Mainz will be created. Hannah Frauenrath's interest is political theatre with a feminist and anti-fascist perspective that does not lose focus of its own working conditions. At Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, Hannah Frauenrath is directing the world premiere of »Blaupause« by Leonie Lorena Wyss in 2023/24.
