Steffen Schortie Scheumann

Born in 1961 in Großenhain (Saxony), Steffen Schortie Scheumann spent his childhood in Dresden and Eberswalde (Brandenburg). After graduating from high school, he was a soldier in the NVA for 18 months. Afterwards he worked as a chemical assistant and waiter. From 1982 to 1987 he studied cultural studies at Humboldt Universität in Berlin and worked briefly as a cultural journalist at Dresden radio station. From 1987 he studied externally at Hochschule für Schauspielkunt Ernst Busch, Rostock branch, and received his second university degree there in 1991. Since then he has been engaged at the following theatres: Mecklenburgisches Landestheater Parchim, Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Schauspiel Leipzig, Schauspiel Frankfurt/Oder, Schauspiel Frankfurt/Main, Schauspielhaus Graz, Schillertheater Berlin, Berliner Ensemble, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Bad Hersfelder Festspiele, Oper und Theater Dortmund, Theater Osnabrück, Aalto Oper Essen, Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Salzburger Festspiele, Staatsoper Hannover. Steffen Scheumann has also appeared in numerous film and television productions including »Männerpension« (cinema), »Sonnenallee« (cinema), »Der Krieger und die Kaiserin« (cinema), »The Grand Budapest Hotel« (cinema), »Tatort« (ARD), »Polizeiruf« (ARD), »Hölle im Kopf« (ZDF), »Nebenan« (cinema) and in the series »Babylon Berlin« and is a regular voice-over artist for radio. He is a regular guest at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.
