Jaesung Kim

South Korean tenor Jaesung Kim first studied at the National University in Changwon. In Germany, he completed his Master's degree with Prof. Alexandra Coku at the University of Music Würzburg and subsequently became a member of the master classes of Prof. Stefanie Krahnenfeld and Prof.  Burkhard Fritz at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim. He received further influences in master classes with renowned singing teachers such as Kirsten Schötteldreier and Prof. Christiane Iven.
In his home country, he has already made his debut in roles such as Duca (Giuseppe Verdi's »Rigoletto«) and Rodolfo (Giacomo Puccini's »La Bohème«) and celebrated a great success as Don José under conductor Elias Grandy at the Junge Oper Weikersheim in summer 2021.
This was followed by an engagement at the opera studio of the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, where he appeared in roles such as Malcolm (»Macbeth«), Oronte (»Alcina«), Tybalt (»Romeo et Juliette«), Heinrich der Schreiber (»Tannhäuser«), St. Brioche (»The Merry Widow«) and one Nazarene (»Salome«).
Jaesung Kim is a laureate of numerous competitions and reached one of the coveted places in the finals of the two renowned competitions Concurso Internacional de Canto Alfredo Kraus and International Singing Competition of the Montserrat Caballé Foundation.
In the summer of 2023 he made his debut at a gala concert at the Copenhagen Opera Festival and at the Lithuanian National Opera, where he again enjoyed great success with the role of Rodolfo in »La Bohème«.
