Stefan Sbonnik

Stefan Sbonnik is an internationally active opera and concert singer. After studying at the universities of Osnabrück and Münster and the August Everding Theatre Academy in Munich, he was a member of the opera studio at the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg. He was awarded the Richard Wagner Scholarship and special prizes at the Podium junger Gesangssolisten and sang as part of the Mozart Academy at the festival in Aix-en-Provence. Opera engagements have taken him to the opera houses in Aachen, Heidelberg, Magdeburg, Münster, Passau and Bonn in Germany as well as internationally to La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and regularly to the Theater an der Wien. Concerts as a soloist have also taken Stefan to various festivals as well as the philharmonic halls in Paris, Cologne, Warsaw, Krakow and Milan, the Rudolf-Oetker-Halle in Bielefeld, the Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Tonhalle Zurich and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. He made a guest appearance with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester for a recording of Verdi's Attila.
The opera productions »Alessandro nell'indie« at the Bayreuth Baroque Festival and »Maria de Buenos Aires« at the Strasbourg Opera were recorded by Arte. He has also been heard on the radio on Dlf, BR, MDR and WDR. Stefan Sbonnik made his debut at the Winter in Schwetzingen under the musical direction of Christina Pluhar (»Die getreue Alceste«) in 2019 and returned in 2023 for »Nebucadnezar« under the musical direction of Dorothee Oberlinger, with whom he subsequently celebrated a great success as Oronte in G. F. Handel's »Alcina« at the Bonn Opera. He returns to Schwetzingen for the third time as Alcibiades - now as the title character.
