Stefan Stoll

Born in Salzburg, Stefan Stoll grew up in Munich. The studies in musicology and philosophy he had begun in Munich were completed by studying composition at the Berlin University of the Arts, which he finished with a diploma. At the same time he received singing lessons from Claudia Eder, Marianne Fischer-Kupfer and Eike Wim Schulte.

In his long theatre career he has been a member of the ensembles at the Staatstheater Cottbus (from 1996), the Komische Oper Berlin (1998-2004) and the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe (2008-2011).

Stefan Stoll had success in buffo roles such as Bartolo and Don Pasquale as well as in dramatic baritone roles as Pizarro, Alberich, Gunther, Holländer, Scarpia and Fra Melitone at stages in Germany and abroad.

Since the 2011/12 season Stefan Stoll has been working freelance and is a regular guest at the Leipzig Opera, the State Theatres of Darmstadt, Mainz, Nuremberg and Wiesbaden, the Opera Zuid (Netherlands), the Danish National Opera, the National Theatre Weimar, as well as at the stages in Odessa and Daegu (Korea) and the Teatro Comunale di Savona, the Heidenheim Opera Festival and the Bregenz Festival. As a sought-after concert singer, he has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, Cologne Philharmonie and Liederhalle Stuttgart, among others
