Katharina Ley

Katharina Ley, a native of Heidelberg, studied at Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin from 2000 to 2004. While still a student, she performed in Wedekind's »Frühlingserwachen« at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, directed by Ulrich Matthes. After a guest engagement at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, she was a permanent ensemble member at the Schauspiel Leipzig from 2005 to 2008 under the directorship of Wolfgang Engel. She was nominated as Young Actress of the Year by the journal Theater heute for the role of Solveig in »Peer Gynt« (directed by Wolfgang Engel). After an extended stay in London and New Zealand, she took up a permanent engagement at Saarländisches Staatstheater. Her debut role there was the title role in »Hamlet« by William Shakespeare. Katharina Ley has been working freelance since 2012 and has also directed various theatre productions and appeared in various film and television productions. At Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, she recently appeared in the world premiere of »Das weiße Dorf« and in the research evening »Villa Abendsonne«. In the 2022/23 season, she can be seen in »Hoffmanns Erzählungen« and heard in the audio walk »Die Nacht verdeckt den Morgen«.
